2009 Rotax Grand Nationals

The only Raceway Motorsports customer to attend this years Rotax Grand Nationals is Mini Max driver Angus Hunt.
DAY ONE - UNIOFFICAL PRACTICE DAY.
Angus is having a blast and says this is his new favorite track! it's one of those wide open and hold on type of tracks that suits angus very well. things are going surprisingly easy for us. there are a lot of frustrated looking dads here, but i'm not one of them! so far there are 4 drivers that are a good bit faster than the rest and have broken into the 49 second lap times. they are Angus, Dalton Sargent, Peitro F
ittipaldi, and Jordan Perry. every practice session, that group gets together and takes off. Angus is learning TONS from running with that group. those are some excellent drivers, and angus keeps telling me how fun it is to drive with other drivers that are that good. Behind those four, it seems that mid to low 51 second laps are the norm. I'm sure everything will change next week, and we're working hard to be ready for the track changes.
The weather has been bad on and off which is biting into track time. Angus was really, really good relaying really good info to me to get him dialed in quick. if other drivers aren't so good at that, they will suffer and probably not catch up. Tomorrow might be a wash, and today ended early for us due to rain. Next week is supposed to be nice, so we are not going to waste time on a rain set up.
Rick, your ideas were all spot on and worked, and we gained about 3 tenths this morning, which was good because the other 3 seemed to pick a little up this morning as well. i'll have you on speed dial next week helping me keep up with the jetting!

OFFICAL OPENING DAY
Made it through tech. Only checked one motor, because our backup still has the new style clutch in it. but they said if we have motor trouble, we can have the new motor changed out and declare it later.
I don't see me ever paying to be in a big tent. but i will do what has to be done to get Rick here with me next time, though. after seeing what i've seen so far, i'm more convinced than ever that Angus could win with a top tuner. I haven't seen anyone that has anything on him driving or passing wise. and more important than that is that Angus doesn't think anyone here is a better driver than he is. At first, I was impressed with some of their drafting skills, but within a very short period, Angus was right there, too. I wish we had a local track with such a long straight. big disadvantage, but the bando driving helped us in that area.
